HK REALTINDO EXPANDS NETWORK, MANAGES 17 REST AREAS TO ENHANCE TRANS-SUMATRA TOLL ROAD SERVICES

JAKARTA – PT HK Realtindo (HKR), a subsidiary of PT Hutama Karya (Persero), continues to expand its role in rest area management. Effective September 1, 2025, HKR has added two new locations—Rest Area KM 118 A and KM 119 B—along the Indrapura–Kisaran (INKIS) toll road. With this expansion, HKR now manages 17 strategic rest areas across the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS), comprising nine on the Terbanggi Besar–Pematang Panggang–Kayu Agung (TERPEKA) segment, two on the Indralaya–Prabumulih (INPRABU) segment, four on the Pekanbaru–Dumai (PERMAI) segment, and two on the INKIS segment.

Rest areas play an increasingly vital role as vehicle traffic along JTTS continues to surge. Recent data shows that more than 250,000 vehicles pass through the network daily, with peak volumes reaching nearly three million during the 2025 Eid homecoming period. This underscores the growing importance of rest areas—not just as stopping points but as key facilities supporting driver comfort and safety.

Rest areas are no longer merely transit points. We aim to transform them into comfortable, family-friendly spaces that are clean and welcoming,” said M. Reza Arisandy, Acting Director of Business and Engineering at HKR. “This expansion also strengthens HKR’s positioning in Indonesia’s property and hospitality sector.”

The newly added INKIS rest areas (KM 118 A and KM 119 B) are designed as integrated service centers. Facilities include large-capacity parking for private vehicles, buses, and trucks; prayer rooms; accessible restrooms; gas stations; a wide variety of culinary options; local SME tenants; as well as green spaces and children’s playgrounds.

For safety and emergency services, the sites are also equipped with health posts, lactation rooms, ambulances, repair workshops, towing services, and 24-hour security. These facilities make the INKIS rest areas essential support hubs for long-distance travel, particularly during peak seasons such as Eid (Lebaran) and Christmas/New Year holidays.

Rest area management has now become one of HKR’s core business pillars. Beyond supporting toll operations, these facilities also stimulate local economies by creating jobs, opening market access for SMEs, and attracting national retail brands. HKR’s strategy is expected to generate a strong multiplier effect, benefiting both the company and regional economic growth.

With this expansion, HKR reaffirms its commitment to delivering excellent rest area services, supporting the continued development of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road, and providing real value for communities and stakeholders alike,” Reza concluded.
