Tjahjo further explained, seeing the high enthusiasm of Hutama Karya Group personnel in the success of this book donation, then the program will be carried out on an ongoing basis in several areas of the construction or operational sections around JTTS. The Joint Literacy Movement departs from the reading needs of the community around Pasuruan Village, South Lampung Regency which have not been met evenly. This movement cooperates with Sugeng Haryono, the initiator of Motor Pustaka in South Lampung, as a community of literacy activists whose aim is to help distribute literacy materials with its library fleet and increase interest in reading in the community, especially children from elementary to high school or equivalent. Through this movement, Hutama Karya also invites all elements of society to participate in expanding access to reading and increasing understanding and knowledge through various other literacy activities.
To make this Joint Literacy Movement successful, Hutama Karya Group has been raising book donations through Book ATMs since May 19, 2023. All employees can donate used books that are suitable for use for children and adolescents. This book donation program will continue to be open, where books that have been collected will be submitted to Motor Pustaka periodically for redistribution.
Not only donating books, Hutama Karya also provided 2 (two) motorbikes with body parts to carry reading books and 2 (two) laptops for the people of Pasuruan Village to use in reading and seeking information. This motorbike donation will be used by the Motor Pustaka team in carrying out a traveling reading program.
Through the TJSL HK Cares for Education program, Hutama Karya has also created a Reading and Digital Literacy Corner at the Pasuruan Village Hall, South Lampung which can later be used as a reading room for the community and managed directly by the local Village Officials.
