LONG WEEKEND OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD’S BIRTHDAY 2025: TRAFFIC ON HUTAMA KARYA TOLL ROADS RISES 16.21%

SUMATRA – During the long weekend holiday for the commemoration of Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday in 2025, PT Hutama Karya (Persero) recorded 415,637 vehicles passing through the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) from Thursday (Sept 4) to Sunday (Sept 7). This figure represents a 16.21% increase compared to normal traffic levels. The highest traffic volume was recorded on Sunday (Sept 7), with a total of 119,397 vehicles—27.23% higher than the daily average.
Executive Vice President Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya, Adjib Al Hakim, noted that the Pekanbaru–Dumai Toll Road saw the highest traffic, with 65,867 vehicles. The surge was driven by large-scale religious gatherings commemorating Maulid Nabi in Dumai and surrounding areas, as well as rising visits to popular tourist destinations in Dumai and Bengkalis.
“Meanwhile, the toll road with the sharpest increase was the Padang–Sicincin section, which rose by 73.76% compared to normal traffic. This was mainly due to the tradition of family gatherings during Maulid Nabi in West Sumatra, along with religious events and tourist attractions around the Padang–Bukittinggi area,” Adjib explained.
Adjib further emphasized that services throughout the long weekend period ran smoothly. Preparations were made in advance, including traffic service fleets and on-site personnel, as well as close coordination with the police, the transportation agency, and other stakeholders. Traffic conditions were also monitored in real time via control rooms at each toll road branch, staffed 24/7 to ensure safe and comfortable journeys for road users.
“Beyond these preparations, the success of managing this holiday period also reflects the lessons learned from previous long weekends. We strive to ensure every journey on our toll roads is safe and comfortable. Hutama Karya will continue to enhance service quality—both during peak holiday seasons and on regular days,” Adjib concluded.
